The Role of Septal Surgery in Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

We all desire features that compliment our face and does not look odds on our faces. However, not all of us are born with them and thus go for cosmetic surgery procedures such as rhinoplasty. rhinoplasty, however, is much more than just a visually appealing nose. Rhinoplasty procedure like septoplasty is a procedure to treat a deviated septum and improve breathing. Rhinoplasty, when done by the best rhinoplasty surgeon in Delhi, can work wonders for you.

What is septoplasty?
The septum refers to the wall of bone and cartilage responsible for dividing your nose into two nostrils that you have. A deviated septum happens when your septum deviates to either side of your nose. There are some people who have a deviated septum congenitally, but it can also be caused by an injury caused to your nose. Most people having a  deviated septum have one nasal passage slightly or significantly smaller than the other. This can lead to difficulty in breathing. Other symptoms that occur because of a deviated septum include facial pain and nosebleeds Surgery is the only way to fix a deviated septum. Septoplasty refers to a surgical procedure for correcting a deviated septum where the septum is straightened, allowing better airflow through your nose. This procedure requires the best rhinoplasty surgeon who can analyze your condition and provide the right treatment.
Septoplasty procedure

A septoplasty procedure lasts for a total of 30 to 90 minutes for its completion depending on how complex your condition is. You’ll be given either the local or general anesthesia, In the septoplasty procedure an incision will be made on either side of your nose for accessing the septum. In the next step, the mucous membrane is lifted up, which is the covering that protects the septum. After this, the deviated septum is moved towards the right position. Extra pieces of bone or cartilage that are causing any hindrance are removed. In the last step, the mucous membrane is repositioned. You will be given stitches for holding the septum and membrane in place. Sometimes your nose will be packed with cotton to keep the septum in position

Role of septum surgery in Rhinoplasty

Septoplasty is usually performed to resolve breathing issues, but it sometimes becomes crucial to treat the external nasal deviation, which represents an important step in rhinoplasty surgery. Even in patients who do not have any functional problems, septal surgery can be an effective solution in getting a proper realignment of the external nasal structure. One-stage septorhinoplasty is considered to be the standard of treatment for a deviated nose, therefore septoplasty cannot be regarded as a distinct procedure to carry out a before and after rhinoplasty.

Techniques and Procedures for Treating Wrinkles

Facelifts
Facelift, which is also known as Rhytidectomy is a popular method
of removing wrinkles. In the process of a facelift, the loose and sagging
skin is pulled back and the tissues underneath the skin are altered
surgically, which renders a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
Botox
Before starting this treatment, you must get a proper consultation with
your doctor. Botox treatment consists of a botulinum toxin that numbs
certain facial nerves that are responsible for the appearance of wrinkles.
The botulinum injection is directly injected into the facial muscle,
accompanied with redness and swelling, later on, that subsides within
10 minutes. This procedure takes no more than 5 minutes and renders
you with tighter and firmer skin.
Fillers
Fillers treatment is used for frown lines, crow’s feet and wrinkles on the
forehead. In this procedure, the hyaluronic acid is injected right
under the skin that helps in removing wrinkles from your skin.

Chemical peels
Chemical peels are the new and innovative method where the professional
first clean your skin completely and applies a chemical such as lactic
acid, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid to the small areas of your face, allowing
a controlled wound to appear that eventually is peeled off.

Laser resurfacing
Laser resurfacing also known as laser peel is a revolutionary method to
stimulate the collagen production in the skin. The technique makes use
of short, concentrated pulsating beams of light in a skin that is irregular

Stem cell therapy for Hair loss

Stem cell therapy for Hair loss
Recent technology for the treatment of Alopecia (Baldness) ie. Male pattern hair loss, female pattern hair loss & hair loss associated with various disorders is stem cells. It is a revolutionary treatment for hair fall. The stem cells promote new hair growth within 3 to 4 weeks of treatment. The hair density increases by 30 to 40% by three sessions of treatment. On an average six sessions are required once in a week to 10 days along with which supplements are given. Stem cells activate the dead hair follicles and convert them into growing healthy new hair follicles.

Research has shown very rewarding results with the stem cell therapy for hair loss by replenishing the lost stem cells. These stem cells are pure human stem cells produced outside the body by Genetic engineering technology just as we have human insulin for diabetics. These stem cells are harvested and then multiplied in the laboratory to produce the stem cells in volume for the treatment purpose.

The treatment with the stem cells requires multiple sessions because it is always better to infuse fresh stem cells more than the required number so that maximum results can be obtained. The method of injection into the scalp is by using specific instruments especially designed for precise drug delivery into the hair follicle to an appropriate depth. Another method of introducing the stem cells into the scalp is through the scalp rolling technology where the stem cells are introduced by means of tiny pricks into the scalp surface.

Results have been very good with the stem cell technology and even advanced grades of hair loss have shown reasonably good results with this therapy. It is absolutely safe and without any known side effects except for a mild pin prick sometimes felt during the injection procedure.

Top 10 plastic surgery fixes for men

Top 10 plastic surgery fixes for men
Just like their fairer counterparts, men too have always wanted to look good and presentable. But the exponential growth that the male grooming market across the world has witnessed in recent years has been quite a phenomenon. In fact, men these days are even willing to go under the plastic surgeon’s scalpel if it means acquiring rejuvenated looks and the perfect physique. Look good does not seem to be the sole prerogative of women any longer!
Nowadays, the need to look young and energetic even if you are in your 40s, 50s and 60s has led men to reevaluate their perspective on physical attributes. This has resulted in an increasing interest in cosmetic procedures to enhance looks. The fact that the corporate world is extremely competitive, and gives out the impression that an older person is less efficient and up-to-date also has a lot to do with more and more men opting for plastic surgery.

Statistics suggest that the top 10 surgical procedures for men in order of preference currently are:
·
            Botox anti-wrinkle injection treatments
·         Nose reshaping or Rhinoplasty
·         Hair transplantation
·         Eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty
·         Liposuction
·         Breast Reductions or Gynecomastia
·         Penile reconstruction or Phalloplasty
·         Face Lifts or rhytidectomy
·         Liposelection(to create six pack abs, bulging pecs and so on)
·         Buttock Enhancements

It is interesting to note that although cosmetic surgery in men uses the same procedures as in women, there are technical differences. This is primarily because the structure of the male body is different from that of a female’s. A very obvious difference is that men have thicker skin, and are more hairy than women. Thicker skin sometimes is hindrance in getting immediate result as it masks the changes made in deeper layers.Men also tend to have tougher fat because of lymphatic blockage which causes problem while getting liposuction done. Smoking which is more prevalent in male population can be a negative factor while considering cosmetic surgery in men as it compromises blood circulation in the sking thereby delaying healing.

Emphasize Your Cheekbones

Facial implants for the chin and cheeks enhance the youthfulness and strengthen the features. The procedure for both implants includes placement of synthetic materials under the subcutaneous tissue and onto the bone underlying it. Implants whether of the cheek or chin are distinct because there are many options available and dramatic results follow.

How is a cheek implant done?
A cheek implant is done to add more emphasis to the cheekbones. The technique involves tiny incisions made towards the inside of the upper jaw area of the mouth. A pocket is created and the implant is scooped into and secured. A customized implant can also be used for the cheeks.

Types of cheek implants
Some recommended types of cheek implants include:

·      Submalar: This type of implant is designed to chisel a face with sunken cheeks at the side of the nose and below the eyes.
·      Malar shell: This surgery focuses on achieving fullness at the cheekbones.
·      Combined submalar: This procedure is a combination of the first two methods to augment the mid-face in particular.

How is a chin implant done?
Cosmetic surgery for chin alteration focuses on balancing the features and bringing them in proportion with each other such as the forehead, nose, lips, chin and the neck. Whilst a protruding chin can be operated on to make it smaller, a small chin can be made of the proportionate size with the help of implants.

Implants can be inserted with an incision inside the mouth, behind the lower lip and below the chin. A pocket is created and an implant is placed and secured in it. Visible scars are avoided as the incision is made inside in both the cases. Once the incision is closed, the chin is held firm with a tape, to treat swelling and to prevent the accumulation of fluid.

Risks
Some risks associated with both cheek and chin implants are:
·         Infection, for which antibiotics may be prescribed after surgery.
·         Often a rare outcome, but sometimes the implant can come out through the skin.
·         The implanted site can swell up.
·         The skin over the implant can experience discoloration.
·         Tingling sensation can be experienced temporarily and will disappear with time.
·         The synthetic materials have reported no case of any sort of disorder or disease, though bone erosion was seen as an outcome in some studies. Even then, chin erosion does not cause any problem to the gums or teeth.

Cost:- The Malar implants can cost upto Rs 1.2 lacs
Recovery time is about 2 weeks

Unwanted Hair growth...

Unwanted hair may not just be cosmetic but it can also be a sign of a medical condition. Having unwanted hair is an issue that attributes to an emotional burden, such as low self-esteem, in the individual.

Normal hair growth patterns vary due to age, sex and race but the pilosebaceous follicle is ultimately controlled by hormones. More specifically, the rate of hair growth is androgen dependent.
While some excess hair growth may be idiopathic (present on the body for no medical reason), other people with this symptom may be suffering from an underlying hormone abnormality.  Hirsutism is classified by excessive hair growth in women that resembles hair patterns typically found in males. Women who have this condition will likely see hair appear on their upper lip, neck, chin, cheeks, abdomen, chest and lower back. Hirsutism is considered a fairly common condition among women; however, some women may present coarse, pigmented hair in these general areas but may not be considered hirsute. Hormones always play a role in hirsutism, however, this does not always mean that there is an abnormality in the glands. The hair follicle can also be the cause due to an overreaction to a normal level of androgens causing the excessive hair growth..

If you begins to notice rapidly growing hair, especially in places such as the upper lip, cheeks, neck, chin, chest or lower back; irregular hair growth in association with an irregular menstrual cycle; male features such as deepening of the voice, balding, and decreased breast size; or hair growth worsening, then you should seek a medical advice before deciding for the treatment. It is necessary to take your medical history during the consultation

All methods of hair removal are not appropriate for everyone or all areas of the body. It is necessary to educate yourself during consultation on the hair removal methods based on type of hair, body area, and amount of hair growth, and correlate them to the client’s age, hair type and preferences. Familiarize yourself with the two forms of hair removal: depilation and epilation. Depilation will only remove hair on the surface of the skin and does not offer a permanent solution, while epilation will remove the entire hair, providing the client with a much longer period between treatments. Choose the treatment that best fits your lifestyle and condition. While there is a vast array of hair removal options, here are a few of the most efficient.
  • Electrolysis –. It works through electrical and thermal energy to destroy the follicle of the hair. A tiny needle is inserted into the hair follicle and the electric pulse is emitted in order to destroy the hair follicle. This procedure will result in permanent hair removal; however, it can be a painful experience and not commonly used these days   for darker skin tones because it can create hyper- or hypopigmentation in the skin.
  • Laser hair removal – the most efficient method of long-term hair removal currently available and suitable for maximum number of people and can  covers  all the areas. During the treatment, the hair follicles are damaged by a highly concentrated light (or laser) that is passed over the area that requires hair removal.. Be sure that you understand that they will need to have multiple sessions, may experience redness or swelling in the treatment area, and may need an occasional touch-up treatment. Laser Hair removal  should always be accompanied by hormone investigations. If hormone imbalance identified,it should be treated and then the laser sessions should be conducted. Laser without Hormonal correction will yield poor outcome..
  • Dermaplaning – safely performed by using a sterile surgical dermaplane blade. The dermaplane blade is held against the skin at a 45 degree angle and stroked along the skin. Treating the skin in this manner actually removes about two to three weeks worth of dead skin cells, as well as removing excess vellus hair. All skin types may benefit from dermaplaning, however, this method is only performed on the face.
Before opting for any treatment consider the amount of time the treatment requires, the frequency of treatments needed, the amount of pain involved in the removal process, as well as the cost of the treatment.
